This Privacy Policy describes how AI API Usage Battery ("the App") handles your information. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our practices.

How the App Works

AI API Usage Battery performs the following operations on your Mac:

• Token Storage: When you enter your Claude OAuth token during setup, it is stored securely in your macOS Keychain. This token never leaves your device except to communicate with Anthropic's API.
• API Communication: The App sends your OAuth token to api.anthropic.com to retrieve your usage statistics. This is a direct connection between your device and Anthropic's servers.
• Usage Display: Your usage statistics are displayed locally and are not stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere else.

Data We Collect

The App collects limited, anonymised data to improve the experience. We do not collect any personally identifiable information.

Usage Analytics (TelemetryDeck)

• Anonymised usage signals: screens visited, features used
• Device type, macOS version, app version
• All data is hashed and cannot be tied to an individual user

Crash Reports (Sentry)

• Crash stack traces and error logs to help diagnose and fix bugs
• Device model, OS version, app version at the time of the crash
• No personally identifiable information is included in crash reports

Purchase Data (RevenueCat)

• Purchase status to manage access to premium features
• An anonymised user identifier generated by RevenueCat (no name or email)
• Actual payment processing is handled by Apple; we never receive card or financial details

Data We Do NOT Collect

To be explicit, we do not collect:

• Personal identification information (name, email, phone number)
• Location data
• Your Claude conversations or prompts
• Contacts, photos, or other device data
• Financial information (payments are handled by Apple)

Data Security

We take the following measures to protect your data:

• Secure Storage: Your OAuth token is stored in the macOS Keychain, Apple's secure credential storage system.
• App Sandbox: The App runs in Apple's App Sandbox, limiting its access to only what's necessary.
• HTTPS Only: All communication uses encrypted HTTPS connections.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services:

• Anthropic API (api.anthropic.com): To fetch your Claude usage statistics. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
• TelemetryDeck: Privacy-first analytics. See TelemetryDeck Privacy Policy.
• Sentry: Crash reporting and error monitoring. See Sentry Privacy Policy.
• RevenueCat: Purchase and subscription management. See RevenueCat Privacy Policy.
• Apple (App Store / StoreKit): Payment processing. See Apple Privacy Policy.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process data under the following legal bases as defined by the General Data Protection Regulation (EU 2016/679):

• Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) — delivering the service you requested, including managing your purchase status.
• Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — anonymous usage analytics to improve the app and crash reporting to maintain app stability.

Data Retention

• Analytics data (TelemetryDeck): retained per TelemetryDeck's standard retention period. Data is aggregated and anonymous.
• Crash reports (Sentry): retained for 90 days by default.
• Purchase data (RevenueCat): retained for as long as your purchase is active, then per RevenueCat's data retention policy.

Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of data held about you.
• Erasure — uninstall the app to remove locally stored data; contact us to request deletion of any analytics or crash data.
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interests.
• Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under the age of 13.

Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
